The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) is the professional body for the UK automotive sector. IMI qualifications are industry-recognised and respected by employers, manufacturers, insurers, and regulatory bodies.
IMI qualifications are developed by industry experts and aligned to current and emerging automotive technologies, ensuring training reflects real workplace practices rather than purely academic content. This provides confidence that technicians are trained to nationally recognised, industry-led standards.
To become an MOT tester in the UK, you must hold a relevant Level 3 qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair, have at least four years of full-time experience in the trade, and complete an IMI-accredited MOT tester course. Our centre in Harlow offers training for all MOT classes, ensuring you meet DVSA requirements.
Our MOT tester courses typically run for 4 days, with flexible weekend training available for those who work during the week. This allows you to qualify without taking time off work.
